Homemade Murauri ( Mooli Ki Puri) Recipe

Course : Breakfast / Snack

Servings: 12 nos

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Rest Time : 5 minutes

Cook Time : 20 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 big mooli /radish

  • 1 cup rice atta/flour

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 nos finely chopped green chillies

  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger

  • 2-3 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

  • 1/4 tsp ajwain/carom seeds

  • 1 /4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp chill powder

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • salt as per taste

  • oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Peel, wash and grate the mooli. Then squeeze out all the water from it.

  2. In a wide mouth vessel boil 1 cup water along with all the dry spices, oil, chopped chilli, ginger, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well then add the grated mooli. Switch off the gas and with a spoon mix the mixture. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes.

  3. Remove in a plate and when warm enough knead the mixture to form a soft smooth dough. Apply some oil on the dough and make small equal size balls of the dough.

  4. Apply some oil on your palms . Take one dough ball and slowly press it with your fingers or palm to make a medium thickness disc.

  5. Heat some oil in a kadai when the oil is hot make the gas low and place one to two puris in the oil. Fry the puris on low to medium flame on both sides till golden brown in colour.

  6. Remove in a plate and repeat the process till all the dough is used.

Enjoy these smacking and yummy puris with some aloo sabzi, pickle and curds.
